What can I say about
Optimum Control other than it is fantastic, we purchased it a few
years ago and it never really got going, this was down to our
internal issues. Once these issues had been addressed we
have not looked back, it gives you the most important bits of
information you need in order to run your business more
profitable, and it gives you so much more. We have implanted
the system to all our hotels and our exhibition centre.
Makes tracking stock more easy and you are not wasting labour,
which in return means more money saved.

point out the back up service you get from Peter and Ruth is
second to none and any issues we have had have always be resolved,
so a big thank you both.
Monday was the
first time I had completed a stock take using the hand held only.
The search
facility was a lot quicker, it searched the whole word and part
words, this is really helpful when you have many similar items but
with different flavours, it means you get the item you want and
not a list of items with a similar name.
There is now no
need to go to another menu screen to add differing count sizes as
all you options are there you just scroll across.
The stock count
took around an hour longer than usual, but it would then take 4
hours plus to enter all the written items into OC.
Stock results
where then only available after I had found time to sit and input
all the frozen items.
Now for the first
time I had an immediate result, I sat with chef we looked at the
result, we checked a few items and agreed and finalised the stock
the same day.
This is the first
time we had ever had a result the same day as the stock take.
I had set up many
items using bar codes, but we never used the bar code reader once.
Once all bar
codes are set up we will use this in stock taking, this I think
will save us even more time.
This is so much
better, it was a joy to use and made stock taking so much easier.
I keep all housekeeping, mini bar and leisure stocks on OC, all
these stocks are counted by hand.
Now with the
speed of the new software I am considering using it for all stock
takes.
We have been using Optimum Control for nine
years since bringing our college catering service in house. Our
catering manager found it easy to use, although she had no
previous experience of using a computer. We also use the OC
nutrition package to measure the menu against the government
nutrition standards. OC has helped us to stay in control of our
supplier food costs and menu costings, thus avoiding a deficit on
our catering. I am happy to recommend it as an indispensable tool
for any school catering operation.
